For older issues, contact Micro Media at 1-800-387-2689, or the address below. Micro Media carries back issues of Chatelaine on microfiche, dating back to March 1928. For a small fee, they will provide you with the information you need.

How do I get permission to reprint Chatelaine articles and images?

Articles
Chatelaine purchases first-time rights only. After an article has been published, the reprint rights revert to the writer. If you want to reproduce articles published in Chatelaine in any form, we will put you in touch with the writer. Please send a letter providing the following information:
• title of the article
• month and year published
• why and how you will be using the article
Please note: we will not acknowledge your request, but will forward it on to the writer.

Photos
Chatelaine purchases first-time publication rights of images. While we cannot release our own transparencies, we will put you in touch with the photographer who may be able to supply you with unused transparencies and give you permission to reprint. Please send a letter providing the following information:
• title of the article in which the photo appears
• description of the image or tearsheet
• month and year published
• why and how you will be using the image
Please note: we will not acknowledge your request, but will forward it on to the photographer.

Illustrations
Chatelaine purchases one-time publication rights of illustrations selected by us. The illustration is not returned to the illustrator until three months after publication and it will be necessary for you to obtain his or her permission to reprint. Please send a letter providing the following information:
• title of the article in which the illustration appears
• month and year published
• why and how you will be using the illustration

How do I submit a story idea?
If you have a story idea that you would like to submit,

All queries are read by the editors; however, we usually reply only if you have provided a valid email address. We will contact you if we are interested in your proposal.
NOTE: Due to the high volume of submissions, it may take up to two months to respond to your proposal. Although we would like to, we are unable to respond to follow-up calls in the interim.
Chatelaine receives unsolicited materials (including letters to the editor, press releases, promotional items and images) from time to time.
Chatelaine, its affiliates and assignees may use, reproduce, publish, re-publish, distribute, store and archive such unsolicited submissions in whole or in part in any form or medium whatsoever, without compensation of any sort. This statement does not apply to materials/pitches submitted by freelance writers, photographers or illustrators in accordance with known industry practices.

Because of our lead time, we must receive notices at least four months in advance of events or product releases. Due to the high volume of press packages, we are unable to respond to follow-up calls. But we appreciate you keeping us up-to-date and we will be in touch if we're able to use the information in the magazine.
