LCD TVs go green
In all of our efforts to make smaller footprints and reduce carbon emissions, have any of us reduced our TV time? Technology is on our side because reduced energy use is the top trend in LCD TVs this year.
Sharp Aquos LED TV
For the techy, this LED LCD boasts the lowest power consumption on the market with high levels of colour and contrast performance. A full army of LED backlights keeps the energy draw low while the true test of image quality – seeing a difference in shades of black – comes out on comparison with pricier models.

Sony VE5 Eco TV, 1080p
This green machine features all the best Sony specs and then some (for your eco conscience). A power saving switch eliminates power consumption while the set is off without having to unplug it from the outlet. As well, the self-adjusting brightness means you hardly ever have to open that menu screen if you turn on a light. The presence sensor automatically turns the TV off if you leave the room for a set period of time – but don’t worry, it can tell if you’re just lazily lying still on the couch.
