Bluenotes Ashley skinny jeans

Until I saw Bluenotes’ fall 2009 collection I almost forgot you could purchase an item of clothing for under $50, not to mention a pair of jeans. Confession: I’ve been known to fork over more than $200 for pair that properly fit my body. Then I justify the insane denim expenditure by vowing to wear said pair of pants every day until the seams explode. Thankfully Bluenotes has saved me from committing another fashion (and financial) faux pas. The company’s new core denim line for women has styles to suit every taste: flares, bootcuts and skinny jeans in a variety of washes, and they’re all priced at $49.50 or less! My faves are the Ashley skinny jeans in “Rinse” (pictured here) and “Overdye Black” washes (at $39.50 I don’t have to decide which I like better). And the best part? These sleek jeans are so well-made you can’t tell them from their over-priced counterparts.

Available at Bluenotes, $39.50

The Body Shop coconut milk body lotion

Nothing prolongs the feeling of summer more than the sweet scent of coconut. The Body Shop’s new line of organic virgin coconut products fit the bill perfectly and my favourite is the milk body lotion. It lathers on easily without that messy, greasy feeling you can get from some creams. Plus, The Body Shop uses strictly organically certified. And, you can feel good on the inside too because the company is committed to fair trade, ensuring that the coconut producers, specifically a group called Women in Business Development in Samoa, receive a fair wage that in turn helps them build a future through their employment. Today, over 200 people in Samoa grow, harvest and extract the coconut oil for TBS. Now, that’s sweet!

Available at The Body Shop, $16.00
